Lindy-hop originated in the 1920's - 1930's with the Jitterbug & Charleston and can be described as a mixture of these two styles. Lindy-hop can be danced to slow or faster swing music such as Rhythm & Blues and Big-band music. Lindy-hop is characterised by chasse' swing steps and Charleston kicks and jumps - similar to Swing Jive. As a result, it can be quite energetic and therefore often attracts younger dancers, although it is an exhilarating and fun dance style for anyone with energy to spare.
